As the newly created Research & Development Manager, you can conceptualize new designs, convert those concepts into prototypes, then to marketable products. You are an integral part of our highly motivated and experienced engineering group responsible for leading the cross-functional product development team process. You enjoy providing direction to less experienced team members, partnering with outsourced resources and serving as project manager from concept stage through release. You welcome taking the lead on product designs, facilitating project team meetings, creating project schedules, assigning action items, documenting project activities and developing test plans to ensure quality design. Finally, you thrive working with a team to maximize productivity to reach company goals.

Essential Functions

• Lead design efforts for new products
• Lead enhancement or expansion design efforts for existing products
• Assume project manager responsibilities and lead cross functional teams
• Develop quality assurance test plans and coordinate testing activity
• Provide work direction to the engineer, designer and detail drafters teams
• Oversee and coordinate activities of outsourced engineering resources
• Partner with production teams to ensure manufacturability of design
• Partner with product management to ensure all customer requirements are met in final design
• Prepare and provide project status reports to senior management presentations

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• At least 7 years’ experience as Mechanical Design Engineer working in a new product development environment
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and Simulation FEA tools
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
