2nd Shift Production Supervisor

Job Description

First level of supervision for the WBP 2nd shift production employees. Provides work direction on a daily basis and monitors daily work performance. Anticipates production and personnel problems and resolves problems to achieve the production schedule. Leads by example to maintain good housekeeping and enforcing safe work practices. Helps administer performance feedback, facilitates daily and weekly production meetings, supports on-boarding programs for temporary and new hires, communicates and leads second shift staff for a smooth hand-off of production plans.

Essential Functions

  • Primary role of the position is to lead; through training, organizing, staffing, and coordinating
  • Secondary role is to help to produce product
  • Participate in the hiring process of the department
  • Monitor employee performance and disciplines where necessary
  • Completes reviews for subordinates with assistance from Plant Manager and Human Resources
  • Initiate and participate in disciplinary issues
  • Manage employees time and record daily payroll (PTO Request, attendance issues)
  • Identify training needs, monitor and reinforce training
  • Promote company culture
  • Enforce safety rules, preventing risk and accidents
  • Product and process knowledge
  • Monitor throughput and maximize productivity
  • Communicate deaily with team members to share company information and daily production schedules
  • Establish preventive maintenance program and troubleshoot machine issues
  • Understanding of plant scheduling (capacity planning, T.O.C.)
  • Monitor and enforce inventory control programs
  • Know company goals

Job Qualifications

  • High School Education
  • Associates/Technical Degree of 5+ years experience in metal fabrication
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Possesses strong provlem solving skills
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles
  • Leads by example (Attendance, Attitude, Quality, Performance)
  • Has a positive attitde (Consistent, honest, level-headed professional)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Is non-discriminatory and can work with a diverse workforce
  • Is proactive - constantly improve process
  • Good listener - clear communicator
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Macola)
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work weekends and be on-call
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day
