Summary 

This position incorporates the Purchasing and Material Planning functions under the supervision of the Supply Chain Director and/or with direction from senior purchasing staff. Works directly to support operations. Participates in decisions of commodities where the financial impact is limited.

Duties/ Essential Functions

• Adheres to purchasing and inventory control policies, processes and procedures
• Purchases to maintain best supplier terms, pricing and delivery as directed
• Maintains supplier relationships
• Prepares and submits request for quotes
• Daily review of D365 reports to plan and generate purchase orders
• Supports the maximizing of inventory turns while maintaining a continuous supply
• Communicates daily with suppliers
• Expedites and verifies order acceptance
• Keeps supplier, part, cost, purchase order records up to date
• Resolves supplier discrepancies with quantity, cost, quality
• Remedies defective or unacceptable goods or services on a timely basis
• Keeps Senior Buyer in the loop of issues that will affect cost, quality, and delivery
• Assists with database maintenance and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Two or more years of Purchasing and Material Planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Associate degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance or equivalent experience is preferable
• Experience working in a metal manufacturing organization is a plus.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and written
• Critical thinker with the ability to multitask effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Promotes continuous improvement.
• Detail orientated with emphasis on follow up in a fast-paced environment
• Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel
