Major Responsibilities/ Opportunity

First level of supervision for a group of production employees in the assembly and shipping areas. Provides work direction daily and monitors daily work performance. Anticipates production and personnel problems and resolves problems to achieve the production schedule. Leads by example to maintain good housekeeping and enforcing safe work practices.

Essential Functions

  • The primary role of the position is to lead; through training, organizing, staffing, and coordinating. A secondary role is to help to produce products.
  • Participate in the hiring process of the department.
  • Monitor employee performance and discipline where necessary.
  • Completes reviews for subordinates with assistance from Production Manager and Human Resources
  • Initiate and participate in disciplinary issues.
  • Manage employees time and record daily payroll (PTO requests, attendance issues)
  • Identify training needs, monitor, and reinforce training.
  • Promote company culture.
  • Enforce safety rules.
  • Product and process knowledge
  • Monitor throughput and maximize productivity.
  • Communicate daily with team members to share company information and daily production schedules.
  • Work with other supervisors to make sure we are shipping orders on time.
  • Understanding of plant scheduling
  • Monitor and enforce inventory control programs.
  • Know company goals.

Job Qualifications

  • High School education or GED, required
  • Associates degree or 5+ years experience in metal fabrication
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Possesses strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles. 
  • Leads by example (Attendance, attitude, quality, performance)
  • Has a positive attitude (consistent, honest, level-headed, professional)
  • Detail oriented and has the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Is non-discriminatory and can work with a diverse workforce
  • Is proactive – Constantly improve processes
  • Good listener – clear communicator
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
