The Project

The Rochester office of Kraus-Anderson began construction on Bryk on Broadway in February 2021 on a new $39.2 million, mixed-income affordable housing project in Rochester’s Destination Medical Center district.

Designed by ISG, the property features 180 housing units, approximately 7,500 square feet of commercial and retail space on the ground floor and 140 climate-controlled parking stalls. The six-story project also includes a fifth-floor community room with outdoor terrace, a sixth-floor lounge, fitness center and ample outdoor landscaped gathering spaces to enhance the pedestrian experience, walkability, and connections to multiple forms of transit.

BRKY on Broadway features a Single Packaged Vertical Unit (SPVU) in each apartment, which sits in a dedicated closet. The HVAC Access Door provides a clean, unobtrusive, and secure access point for easy servicing and maintenance. The building owner was looking for a more aesthetically pleasing option than a traditional pre-hung door. Nystrom met this challenge with the New HVAC access door. The HVAC door provides a nice clean finish and blends seamlessly into the wall, while providing excellent sound attenuation.

Kraus-Anderson noted, “The HVAC access door installed quickly since we didn't have to deal with extra trim or door hardware. They also were light and easy to move and gave the clean finish the owner desired.”

BRYK ON BROADWAY is expected to open in March 2023.
