Search Products

Search and select potential projects to analyze and complete a take-off, identify product, quantity. Communicate with sales representatives to effectively and efficiently prepare a competitive bid package to current and potential customers. Will assist internal and external sales representatives and partners in gathering and compiling information from customers to provide and/or clarify construction documents used in product quotation. Authority to take action is limited to established policy with other departments and vendors to obtain necessary information.

Essential Functions

  • Retrieve plans from Dodge or other sources. Search criteria are based on the needs of the sales force. Update and maintain bid calendar.
  • Summarize weekly activity and distribute
  • Select projects to review based on criteria from sales
  • Develop a list of Nystrom products based on plans, addendas and specifications, commonly reffered to as a "take-off"
  • Complete necessary records to document inquiries
  • Outbound phone calls to partners/customers/architects/engineers for necessary clarifications
  • Technical support
  • Flexible hours based upon needs to complete responsibilites effectively
  • Substitution requests as needed
  • Creativity - Propose ideas, find new and better ways to do things to reduce the cost of processes
  • Initiative - Willing to seek out new assignments, assume additional duties and continue education

Job Qualifications

  • College or technical degree
  • 1-2 years estimating or construction preferred
  • Requires strong and detailed organizational skills to provide accurate take-offs used in the quotation process
  • Knowledge of the organization/products
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Involves extreme accuracy in a manner to ensure that product(s) is quoted properly and to ensure good customer relations
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of products or services
  • Knowledge of construction standards a plus
  • Above average computer skills
  • Ability to confidently navigate through plans and interprets specifications


  • Reliability-Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented - Must be organized and pay attention to detail to be successful in position. Accuracy is essential when performing the take-off
  • Ability to learn how to use new programs/software
  • Ability to manage documents electronically in an orderly and consistent manner
  • Sense of urgency - Understands deadlines and can work with the Sales Department time tables
  • Attendance - Must demonstrate acceptable overall attendance
  • Independence - Must be able to plan each day and responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Adherence to policy - Employee follows Standard Operation Procedures, Safety, Conduct rules, other regulations and company policies
  • Judgment - Must possess proper judgment and decision making skills

Performance Measures

  • Accuracy of take-off is measured by feedback from Technical Application Specialist and Sales
  • Review of post sale and price adjustment reports to determine if there are take-off accuracy issues
  • Timelines of competing take-offs
  • Peer reviews
  • Attendance record
  • Individual performance objectives to be established that define the objective and timeframe
