The Project
Stair Nosing Guards™ were installed in two prominent projects —a Carnegie Mellon University Residence Hall and the University of Pittsburgh Chiller Plant. The performance of the Stair Nosing Guards caught the attention of Mosites Construction, who recommended their inclusion in the second project with Sentinel Construction. Area Sales Manager Evan Howell highlights the seamless process due to Mosites’ familiarity with the Stair Nosing Guards and their previous positive experience. The order was a resounding success, further bolstered by timely delivery, quality, and effectiveness of the Stair Nosing Guards.
Following installation of the stairs, the Stair Nosing Guards were durable throughout construction. Derrick Hays, Project Manager at Mosites Construction, commended the product performance, expressing enthusiasm by saying, “Ordering the nosings with Stair Nosing Guards was a no-brainer, we would use it on all future projects.” This endorsement reflects the Nystrom commitment to providing high-quality construction solutions.
The new four-story Carnegie Mellon University residence hall will provide approximately 266 beds in 37 apartments, private study rooms, music rooms, game rooms, and media rooms. Mosites has worked closely with Carnegie Mellon University and architect Goody Clancy to provide a construction approach geared toward safety on an active campus while engaging and supporting the surrounding community. Sentinel Construction controlled much of the critical path during the early stages of the University of Pittsburgh Chiller Plant project and worked closely with Mosites who recommended using the Guards.
