1st Shift Production Supervisor

Job Description

First level of supervision for the WBP 1st shift production employees. Provides work direction on a daily basis and monitors daily work performance. Anticipates production and personnel problems and resolves problems to achieve the production schedule. Leads by example to maintain good housekeeping and enforcing safe work practices. Helps administer performance feedback, facilitates daily and weekly production meetings, supports on-boarding programs for temporary and new hires, communicates and leads staff for a smooth hand-off of production plans.

Essential Functions

  • Primary role of the position is to lead; through training, organizing, staffing, and coordinating the production process; generating maximum output.
  • Participate in the hiring process of the departments
  • Monitor employee performance and disciplines where necessary
  • Helps to complete reviews for subordinates with assistance from Plant Manager and Human Resources
  • Manages employee time and records daily payroll (PTO requets, attendance issues)
  • Identify training and onboarding needs, monitor and reinforce training
  • Promote company culture
  • Enforce safety first rules and programs
  • Throughput and process knowledge
  • Monitor throughput and maximize productivity
  • Communicate daily with team members to share company information and daily production schedules
  • Establish preventive maintenance program and troubleshoot machine issues
  • Understanding of plant scheduling (capacity planning, T.O.C.)
  • monitor and enforce inventory control programs

Required Skills & Experience

  • High School education
  • Associates degree or 5+ years experience in metal fabrication
  • 3+ years of supervirosry experience
  • Possesses strong problem solving skills with critical thinking
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Leads by example (attendance, attitude, quality, performance)
  • Has a positive attitude (consistent, honest, level-headed professional
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Is non-discriminatory and can work with a diverse workforce
  • Is proactive - constantly improving processes
  • Good listener and clear communicator
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook Macola)
  • Detail oriented
