· Are load bearing fire rated floor doors available?
Babcock-Davis is pleased to be able to provide a load bearing floor door that was tested by Inchscape/Warnock
Hersey for installation in fire rated floors up to three hours. The B-FHR can provide an access to equipment or
mechanical chases in a fire rated floor. Designed for accessing an unoccupied space, this door is not applicable
for emergency egress and is not rated for heat transmission. It is painted with a yellow warning finish with
stenciled letters reading "FIRE DOOR DO NOT STORE MATERIALS ON SURFACE". Approval of the authority
having jurisdiction would be required for installation of this door. For more details, contact our technical

· Is stainless steel hardware available on Babcock-Davis floor
doors?
Babcock-Davis manufactures all of our floor doors with all type 316-stainless steel hardware. |
· Are concealable doors for tile or carpeting
available?
Babcock-Davis recessed floor hatches come standard with a 1/8" recess for in-fill of tile or carpet. Our B-FT
series comes in either aluminum or steel. This hatch is perfect in highly visible areas. |
· What is H-20 loading?
H-20 load capacity is designed for infrequent wheel loads of 16,000 lbs. or less. |
· Are drainable doors available?
Babcock-Davis offers both aluminum (B-FGA) and steel (B-FGP, B-FGS) doors with a gutter for water runoff to a
drainage system. A 1-1/2" coupling is provided to hook up for drainage system. |
· Are spring assisted doors available?
All of our doors are designed with a heavy duty hold-open arm and are factory balanced with lift spring mechanisms
to require no more than 10 to 30 pounds of opening force. |
· What are the available latching/locking options available on
Babcock-Davis floor doors?
All of our doors come standard with a stainless steel slam latch with an inside lever handle and an outside
removable key handle. Other locking options include: padlock hasp, recessed padlock hasp with cover, mortise
preparation for cylinder, and detention lock for deadbolt locks. |
· What are the standard and stocking sizes for Babcock-Davis floor
doors?
Babcock-Davis doors are all custom made to meet specific requirements on a project. |
· How do I calculate a rough opening for a Babcock-Davis floor
door?
Generally, our doors are designed for installation when concrete is being poured. Please contact any member of our
sales department for specifics in a retrofit application. |
· How long is the warranty on Babcock-Davis floor
doors?
Our doors come standard with a five year warranty. |
· What finishes are available?
Our doors come standard with a 4-mil epoxy coating wherever it comes into contact with concrete. Also our doors
can have other finishes such as galvanized or anodized. Please contact a sales
representative on these and any other finishes. |
· Is skirting available for Babcock-Davis floor doors?
Our doors are made to order, so any size skirting is available. This is most often used in the precast industry.

All of our doors come standard with a 300 PSF rating, with H-20 load as an option. |
